Changed to synthetic oil, now i have leaks?

I have 75 911s 2.7

I bought it used a few month ago, i changed the oil to mobil 1 synthetic cuz its been a garage queen and he couldnt even remember when he changed it last.

Well i had it for a month before i did this and not a DROP of oil.

Now i change the oil and i got a pretty good oil leak.

A friend said synthetic oil tend to creep through old gaskets???

Should i just change back to non-sythetic and it wont leak??

Confused..

Yes, Mobil 1 synthetic will leak more. Switch to a good quality 20w50 dino oil. It will stop leaking.

dino = non-synthetic oil

I use Swepco 306 15w-40. Do a search, you'll find more than you need.

Replacing the leaky parts will do the trick.

Sure, why not keep the 3x the price oil and replace a bunch of parts that don't need it....works for me.....

I never heard of "dino" until this board. Then I started using it. I don't even know for sure if it is pronounced like "dino-saur", but I assumed that is where the term came from.

+1 on the Brad Penn. It is $5.83 a quart here in Seattle. I used Kendall recently because it was on sale and found metallic dust in my oil plug at the next change. No such dust with the Brad Penn. True pennsylvania crude oil with better ZDDP in it (zinc, phosphorus).

Supposedly, BP is the old Kednall formulation. Dino has been a term on many air cooled forums for years, VW and the like. I don't go to V8 forums even tho I have 2 SBC's, so I wouldn't know.

I run synthetic and have no problems with it whatsoever. No leaks and as far as I can tell my car doesn't seem to 'hate it'.
