Just released

this was the test mule

I haven't formed and opinion of the car's styling yet.
Any thoughts?

Thanks Sil:

Corporate identity has been well maintained. Porsche has learned the importance of not doing too much of a revolution. Guess most of us are pretty traditional. Somehow I am reminded of the Saab. The practicality of the 4 door hatch and the inherent slipperiness of the rear design. I would like to have seen a departure from the gaudy headlights (as well as taillights) so prevalent on todays cars. The only aspect of the design that I am not happy with is the same area the earlier water pumpers suffered. That is the c pillar area where the Italian designers seem to do about the best. Looking forward to seeing it in the flesh.

Wow, I dont like it.

Looks like a Cayanne mixed with Mazda, Viper, Dodge Magnum, Quattroporte styling. and realy realy realy long.

Maybe it will look better in person.

I can't decide just yet, either.

I can tell you that that was the roofline I expected on to be on the Cayenne (boy was I dissapointed)

On the other hand, I don't have an issue with the C-pillar, aesthetically. (blindspot, maybe)

Fender vent is kind of dorky.

Sedans that try to look like coupes. Generally design failures. Reminds me of the Mercedes CLS. Ugly. They don't sell well. Mercedes buyers prefer the look of the E or S class sedans. BMW sedans look like... sedans. Good for them.

If Porsche wanted to make a sedan, they should have made a sedan.

Here's the awful CLS; (and the Panamera looks worse to me.)

It reminds me of a Dodge Magnum... and that is not good. Personally, they should have departed from the 911 design completely... then they would have gotten somewhere... as said earlier, if they are giving it to me I'll take it... but I'll buy something else... probably a S4 Avant. Though, for my family of 5 the station wagon/hatch is good...

do they plan on releasing a coupe?

I like the nose.

I like the tail.

I like the roof line.

But they just don't work well together.

The front and sides are pleasant to look at; very Porsche. I don't get the rear, however; it doesn't seem to blend with the front two thirds of the car.

It's a 4-door Corvette. If you don't believe me, look at the scallop on the side.

Moses, there must be something wrong with me because a really like the CL 550.

I like it too. It's a coupe, right? Stretch the CL 550 and make it a 4-door and you have the CLS. Ugly.

I like it. I would prefer to see the rear quarter and roof line cut down a little steeper, so it looks less like a hatchback, but the rear passengers need headroom I suppose.. Kind of reminds me a little of the E-type 2+2 from the 60's.
