Tranny problems 915 Series, stuck in reverse!!

I adjusted my shifting linkage to move the shift knob closer to me for 1st & 3rd and then did a test drive. It went in reverse fine the first time and I liked the different position better for AutoX. But after I shut it off and then tried it again it wouldnt go in reverse. Now its stuck in reverse when it should be in neutral, and when I put it in any other gear it loads the motor like its in two gears at once. Could the shift fork have broken leaving it in reverse at all times??

Can I take my inspection cover off the bottom and correct this problem or do I take the engine back out??

Do a search on this topic- there are a number of threads on this. I just had this happen last week once. Try placing the shift lever in the reverse position and quickly "pop" the lever back to neutral. If that doesn't work you can remove the backup light switch and use a drift to push the shaft back to neutral.

Read the other posts for additional info.

Good luck

Thanks Dave, your suggestion payed off and doing the simple procedure first, I put the car in reverse and loaded the clutch slightly then slapped the shifter out of reverse and that cured it.

I owe you a beer buddy, got me to the alignment shop on time and saved my racing weekend!!!
