'86 Carrera airbox plug?

I noticed that I don't have a plug in the airbox on my 3.2L when I changed the filter. Would not having the plug impact performance?
It is the plug in the back of the airbox.

Thanks,

Mark

Not sure what 'plug' you are referring to. Is it a hole? In any case I can not imagine it would affect the performance. A lot of people actually drill the box full of holes and some just ditch the proximal part all together. But maybe I am misinterpreting what you mean by 'plug'.

You mean a pop-off valve (flapper)?

Pop off valves were used on the CIS cars, not Motronic-equipped Carreras....

I am not sure what plug you are referring to but if it is on the inside of the air filter (downstream of the filter, in other words) you need to plug the hole so unfiltered air doesn't get into the engine. If it's on the other side, it shouldn't be much of an issue, unless water can drip through the engine grille and can get through the hole.

Of course, it's always best just to fix it. Can't cost much...

Porsche Crest Plug in back of airbox????????

If you look carefully you will find that a vacuum line from the oil tank to the back of the air box exists. If not, someone has perfomed some "delete" item list.
Pelican parts diagrams will be helpful.

I believe that vacuum line runs from the back of the airbox (downstream from the filter) to the charcoal canister in the right rear wheel well and is part of the evaporative emissions control system.
