Intermittent rear signal light failure

Hi,

My rear right signal light is failing but the problem is intermittent. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I checked the bulb and it's good. The front right signal functions properly when the rear is failing.

Could the turn signal switch at the steering column be the culprit? Is the design of the switches at the steering column such that it can fail with the front signal functioning and the rear signal not functioning?

It's the grounding somewhere. If the front works and the rear doesn't then most probably the connectors on the bulb in the back or its ground are not making good contact.

Sounds like my ongoing issue that I recently fixed. When the lights happens to be out, take the lens off and wiggle the bulb while the blinker is on, see if that makes the bulb light up. If it does, it's the housing.

You don't really need to screw the stuff down, though if you don't it will fall out when you remove the bulbs.

One of my bulbs also had a very bent / loose contact spring, presumably from an overzealous installer - almost nothing holding the bulb in place. I bent it back by carefully with needle nose pliers.

Thanks for the advise. I pulled the copper spring forward (towards the back of the car) a bit. The bulb seems to sit a bit more snug. I'll see if that works for a while...
