Front Bumper to Hood/Fender gap? (longhood)
How much gap should there be between the top of the front bumper, and the bottom of the hood/fender line on an early longhood? I'm trying to get my fiberglass fully aligned today.
Thanks! ![]()

Here are a few pics that I've collected. Apologies I can't recall the source (but I know it's from someone on the board).

Hi
|
I don't know if adjusting your long hood is anything like adjusting the hood on my 84 Carrera but even with measurements I found it easier to "eyeball" it. When adjusting my hood, I had the measurements and proper sized rubber pieces to place in the gaps but for some reason it wasn't working out right. I also found it easier to align the hood with one of the latch mating pieces removed. With both latches on; every time I aligned the hood and then close the hood the latch (which turned out only to be off by a hair) was causing my hood to "tweek" just a bit throwing off the alignment or gap with the hood closed. With one latch piece off I was able to align and lay the hood down and see the alignment without any interferance from the latch.
Good luck. |

Hey, thanks man. It's actually not about the hood in this case...I'm fabricating the fiberglass fenders and bumper, and just looking for the space gap between the bottom of the fenders and the top of the bumper.
