Henderson Glass replaced my windshield last April and they did a great job. I sipplied a new windshield gasket (from our host) and they said it made the job much easier. Perfect replacement, no problems , all for less than $300,

Dang. $180! If that is without insurance money, that is a heck of a deal. Oh to be in Orange County again...:(

Sorry to hear your bad luck...the problems i've heard of are the bottom edges of the windshield not sealing properly causing a leaky seal. The shop doing my car had their guy do the install, its tricky but if the installer isn't lazy it can be done correctly.

I did my own last fall - wasn't hard at all... had a friend come over to help apply pressure to the outside as I pulled the cords inside. Took about 10min to get it in, and amazingly, no more leaks! I put in a new seal from Pelican at the time, and bought the real sigla oem glass at parts heaven. The advantage to doing it yourself is, you know that it's done right. I didn't use any sealant and adjusted the trim by tapping with a wood block and rubber mallet as described in the great threads here on pelican. I was scared at first, but I'd do it again in a heartbeat. You should be able to convince a local windshield shop to sell you the glass. My original glass did crack as I was pushing it out from the inside, but I think you could get it out easily if you're careful.

The company sent the Manager with 20 years experience. He tried 4 times and was unable to get the windshield in. He says the dash was hitting the glass. I raised the cap, trimed the foam and screwed the cap back down after he left. He is due to return tomorow with his crew. I was tempted to buy the glass and try myself but the company offers a lifetime warranty on their work. :rolleyes:

I'll second any votes for Safe-lite. Quick, reasonable, and professional.

I did it for the first time on Friday. Soaped up the window frame lip with dish soap, wrapped a piece of twine in the groove and ten minutes later it was in. Of course I had a friend there to apply pressure to the glass from the outside.
I think it took me more time to clean the glass afterwards than it did to install it. :)
