How many quarts of oil for an '82SC?
Just finished converting my '76 Targa with a 3.0 from an '82SC. How many quarts of oil does it?

I'm sure others will confirm this but put in 8qts, run-up to operating temp and add oil until it comes below the top mark on the dip stick while the engine is running, should be another 3+ qts.

Eleven sounds right to me--I have an '83SC--and I wouldn't worry that "eight quarts" is way low, like putting one quart into a five-quart wet sump. It will be plenty to allow the engine to run up to operating temperature and then some. The reason 911 engines have all that oil--11, 12 quarts--is for cooling, not to keep bearings from starving.

Does it have a front oil cooler? Is it totally empty, including lines and RF fender cooler (if you have one)? I'd put in 8, then add as needed per the dipstick, when HOT, IDLING and on LEVEL GROUND. If it's totally empty, you will not put in as much next oil change as it will not all drain out. |
