Hanging RPM
Yesterday I noticed that my rpms aren't really dropping during shifting when I press the clutch. It's not until I release the clutch in gear that the revs drop. Furthermore in 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd I think I kind of notice the RPM's jump up a bit when the clutch is disengaged.
I'm 99% sure that it didn't do this before (there's alway that 1% where you say to yourself "did I just not notice this before?"). If I'm at a stand still and I blip the throttle, it seems to hang a bit in the 2,500 rpm range before it drops. Thanks for any help.

Engaged or disengaged? I ask because the clutch cable and throttle cable may be overlapped. The RPMs can go up when you push the clutch pedal down if the cables are free of each other. Or, you may just have a hesitant throttle cable.

You're right. I should have said disengaged.

I had same problem when I had CIS.
I disconnected deceleration valve vacuum hose. Problem solved. you should have similar only maybe a different part #

Ditto on decel valve. Other posibilities: vac leak, cables (as Milt said) and distributor.

i recently had a similar problem that may be similar. though, my situation was extreme and i have not quite figured it out yet and it hasnt done it again.
my throttle got stuck and when i pressed the clutch in, my engine redlined. i could have sworn i felt the sensation of the gas pedal moving on its own, though under the circumstances, i cant be sure because it happened so fast and i was in a panic not to crash folks on this forum alerted me to the fact that the throttle and clutch cables could be tangled. im not sure if thats my case since i cant see into the tunnel i also found a broken cruise control cable in the engine compartment which may have caught and kept the throttle open for a few seconds until it freed itself. i used JB weld to fix that. i also found a broken bushing that must have come from my throttle pedal assembly... clevis pin area. im still exploring this possible problem. check your pedals, and look for broken plastic bits hiding under the pedals. could just be your throttle pedal assembly needs lubrication and check the throttle parts attached to the transmission on the driver side. they could be in need of cleaning and lube also, one thing i noticed concerning while i was looking at the assembly at the transmission, bell housing - the heater control cable on my car runs right through there and was/is resting on the throttle parts. its obvious to me that they can interfere slightly with one another check also, your return spring at the throttle in the engine compartment

I am leaning more towards a CIS issue than a cable issue. I've had a similar problem with my Saab and it was due to a disconnected vacuum hose to the throttle body.

I thought decel valves were adjustable.
