SC Mirror question

I did a search on the forums and can't find what I'm looking for.

I need to get a diagram of the assembly that holds the mirrors to the door of my SC. The mirrors have been banged around over time and are loose. I tightened the allen bolt that is visable but it doesn't seem to help.

Take the mirror off, (same allen bolt) and see if the door metal is bent up under it?

My passenger side mirror was loose on my SC in the same way yours is, I tried tightening the allen but it still wiggled and rattled. I took the mirror off and had a good long look at the mounting tabs. It turns out that over time the sheet metal on the door wore grooves in to the tangs that stick through the holes in the door, and on the tang that moves when the allen bolt is tightened. I took a round face file to each of the tangs, then some sand paper, and gave them a smooth, contoured surface again.

Result:

Upon reinstallation, the passenger side mirror now fits snug against the door, and doesn't budge at all. No more rattles or wiggles.

There should be a reinforcing plate riveted to the door (see lower pic). The ear registers into this reinforcing plate.

I am having a different problem... my mirror housing (1 in the diagram) is lifting straight off the mount (3 in the diagram.) What holds the housing to the mount? I am going to attempt screwing the housing using 8 (adjusting washers) or 10 (guide tube) in the diagram - but am not 100% clear that this is correct...

Can anyone confirm?
