MFI Restart after "Storage"
What repairs/replacements/cleanups should I do prior to putting the engine back in and attempting to restart a 69 911E that's been sitting for 15 years?
The tank's out and I'll clean and do the POR fuel tank repair routine (finding a way to get rid of 10 gallons of 15 year old gas, without pouring it the backyard, was a bigger challenge than I expected). I'm replacing the rubber braided flex lines. The engine is out, so are there any checks/cleanup items I should try on the MFI while I've got easy access? I thought I'd read something about "plunger tests" or cleanup for a car that was just parked without doing anything special, but I haven't been able to resurrect it through searches. And, what's the suggestions for dealing with cleaning or replacing the fuel lines through the tunnel? Is there any driving reason to replace them just because it's been sitting so long, or is there a decent way to flush/clean them in place? Anything else I'm missing? Thanks, Tim |
