SC vs Corvette, Ferrari, Jag, Lotus???

I remember reading a comparison article years ago featuring these cars. If I recall correctly the SC was the clear winner and perhaps called the fastest production car sold in the US at the time.
I have searched all over and cannot find it.
Does anyone here remember it?
More importantly can you link to it please?

Don

The “Porsche image” is “serious. The driver will take himself and his car … damned seriously…. [He] will have no more than a limited sense of humor. Especially concerning Porsches. … slightly insecure … likely to be possession-proud. A car for the technician, rather than the engineer, if you get the distinction.” -- Road & Track, June 1969, p. 58, from a comparison test of the Porsche 911T, Corvette, Jaguar E-type and Mercedes 280SL “Four Luxury GTs.”

The other makes’ owners were characterized as follows:
Jaguar E-type: Class, Dignity, owner is sophisticated in his tastes, one that swings, but with dignity, probably doesn’t know much about engineering
Corvette: Plastic, flashy, lots of eye-catching angles and gimmicks; personality of owner is “the Animal”
Mercedes 280SL: Square, even dull

also

Comparison Tests:
R&T, June 1969 – Four Luxury GT’s, p. 52 – 911T rated higher than XKE, Corvette (except on engine), or MB 280SL – owner’s images characterized, and a Porsche owner is overly “serious,” not a swinger, and has a “limited sense of humor”
Motor Trend, July 1971 – 911 vs. Dino – 911 build quality superior; 911 has classic economy of line vs. Italian trick stuff like curves and bulges and flares and scoops. Dino feels completely neutral and can drive deeper into corners than can the 911, but the 911 is much easier to go fast with comfortably right from the start. Thus, the Dino has only a barely perceptible higher cornering velocity. Both use Porsche synchronizers, but Dino is stiff and gate is too wide. 911 has effortless gear changes up and down but vague pattern. 911 is best – more of a reoad car/racer, while Dino is more f a show car/racer.

prob. neither is what you want since I don't keep track of the new-fangled cars like an SC...

Don,
There was an article entitled "Porsche 911SC Road Test" that appeared on page 13 of Car and Driver in March,1978. The author was David E. Davis, Jr. The cars the 911SC was up against were a L82 Corvette, a Ferrari 308 GTB, and a Lotus Espirit. Maybe this is the article???

Edit: This information was retrieved from my copy of Porsche 911 SC & Turbo Gold Portfolio 1978-1983.

Thanks for the scan but can't be '81 as the 911 pictured is clearly a Carrera.
Also probably not C&D as the car is right hand drive and has 231 bhp.

Good question. English but I don't know.

Here is the cover from the De Lorean comparo . . .

I will try to cut the pdf apart & post if I can make it legible.

gold portfolio 1978-1983

Pick up the book "Porsche 911sc & Turbo gold portfolio 1978-1983" Its nothing more than a bunch of magazine articles from that era, including a few comparisons to the Ferrari 308, Lotus Elite, Jag XJS, Vantage, Pantera, BMW 635, etc........... If I remember correctly, most tests did put the SC ahead of the others.

Great info. Check out this from Road and Track Oct 1978

Sorry if it's hard to read, it wouldn't post unless I resized it.
The only 2 faster in 0-60 than the SC's 6.3 are the Porsche turbo @ 5.0 and the Ferrari 512 Berlinetta Boxer @ 5.5.
