Fuel Pressure Gauge
I would like a recommendation for a fuel pressure gauge manufacturer. In general, I don't buy from Harbor Freight- not high enough quality. I will want to use it on my '85 911 and other manufacturers too.
Thanks.

One of the problems you will encounter is the gauge's range. Either 0 to 10 psi or 0 to 100 psi are most common. The pressure in the Motronic EFI is closer to 50 psi. The one I found IIRC came from Jegs or Summit Racing and reads 0 to 60 psi and is liquid filled. Still trying to decide on how to connect it to the FI plumbing and have it easily readable.

hoss4695: Thank you for your reply. Good question on range. I wonder if there are kits out there with multiple gauges?

I don't think anyone will dispute that Harbor Freight (or Hazard Fraught as coined by AvE) makes low quality items but for something that you are only going to use a few times like an injection pressure gauge it is hard to ignore. It gives consistent back-to-back readings which is all you need.
Also regarding pressures in the system. You should see 29 PSI (2 bar) at the injector rail when running. You should never see over 40 PSI under any conditions such as; pump on but not running; vacuum control lines removed; etc.

Quicksilver: Thanks for your reply. I have purchased HF tools, but only in rare situations. Unless I can't find something for a reasonable price with either a recommendation or good review, I will avoid them.
I believe I read in a Pelican post that a 3.2 should have 35 psi at the rail.

Your fuel pump will push close if not over 100psi before being throttled back via regulators, etc. You need that range. At least my SC's will. That is my experience level. One car.

Bob: Good information. Thanks.
At idle, do you know what pressure I should see? Thanks.
