Rennline front monoball..

Today I decided to tackle one side of the 72's front suspension. I'm installing new bilstiens, ball joints, etc... My question is in regards to rennlines front monoballs. They have this piece that you attach to the lower half of the monoball which keeps the monoball from spinning when you torque it down from the top. The small problem I had is that it torqued down pretty damn good, but when I went to remove the tool that holds the bottom piece of the monoball in place, it was bent to all hell. Anyone else have this issue, or did I torque it down to much?
Thanks

Don't they torque down to 40 lbs or something like that? Shouldn't bend unless you torqued the crap out of them.

I found their "tool" a little kludgy to use. On my first go at it, it seemed torqued to the correct setting, but when I took the tool off, the monoball was loose as hell. Need to make sure the tool is just holding things in place and not actually getting up into the bottom space is.

My bad as I did not attach the torque wrench because before I knew it, it was tight as hell. I was able to bend the tool back in place for when I do the other side. In regards to insert removal, I had to attach a pair a vice grips to the top of the insert and give it a good whack ‘up’ to break the seal as there was no way in hell it was sliding out. I was told when I bought the car back in 91 that the owner thought it had koni inserts? Nope, it had the original boges from 72 (what a stinky mess). Ball joints are a mess as well.
Another question, do I add oil to the strut or anti freeze and how much? Or do I leave them dry?
Thanks

Ok so now I have another question in regards to the top not of the strut insert. How in the hell do you tighten it down? Am I to assume that in order to tighten this nut down that I should have an impact wrench as there is nothing to grab on to keep the strut insert from turning (rennlines grooved washer is tiny). If this is the case, and I'm pretty sure it is, rennline should state this when you buy them as now I have to send away for an electric one. Does anyone have a recommendation?
Thanks

Yes, an impact wrench is the only way you're going to be able to zip the nut down on the strut.

Not exactly limited to Rennline's implementation. I think it would be the case now matter what option you went with (including stock).

Yeah, I guess you are right as from the looks, most of these front monoballs are hell of a lot different then the stock setup. Oh well, just gives me an excuse to get an impact wrench since I have always wanted one anyways.
