3.0 stalling problem
 

I think I have a CIS problem developing. not sure

This is the first time I can recall this happening.

Drove car about 10 miles. Stopped for food. Car was parked about 15 minutes. Went to start it and it stalled 3 times. Eventually I just had to keep throttle down a bit to get the car moving.

I dont think its the accumulator because the car fired right up. However, it stalled after about 2 seconds all 3 times...felt like it wasnt getting enough gas.

Strange though. I drove home another few miles. Car was nice and hot. Got home and tried to reproduce the problem and it wouldnt stall

I have no CIS gauges and probably wouldnt understand how to use them at this point...but Im predicting thats what youll suggest...to check CIS pressure?

Does NOT stall when driving ever so I rule out fuel pump for now

I had similar problem with cold engine on hot days. After a while it stopped. JW mentioned it might be my O2 relay. Never figured of out.

I have a cat bypass and I see no signs of an o2 sensor on this car anywhere..if thats relevant I dont know

ok..new development. after getting home..let it sit 20 minutes and now it fires up and stalls just as it first did

i dont know how a bad accumulator acts.... does the engine just keep turning over but not catching or does it just die immediately.

mine is dying immediately

well after reading a bit more, im thinking this is the typical bad fuel accumulator or fuel pump check valve problem so ill focus on those things

im now confused about the fuel pump and whether the check valve is external or internal. ive looked at the PP replacement fuel pump for an 83 and it appears the check valve is internal???

Scott, I've been having a very similar problem, had to flat bed the car home last week. My fuel pump seems to be much noisier than I remember, can here it from inside the car.

From what I've found so far I do think the check valve is internal.

Please update if you find out anything, I'll do the same.
