Why don't they offer the fast 911s in Targa trim anymore?
I'd buy a GT3 Targa if they were available and I were to get that 200% raise I've been expecting.

I wouldn't expect there would be much market for a GT3 with LESS structural ridigity as found in a targa.

Simply put for me! putting the name "targa" on these "Targas" just doesnt work for me.
The "Targa" of old is a "Targa" to me. Dont have a picture at work to put one in but you know what I mean!! |

You said it right, its not a Targa, its just another large open sunroof, moon-roof etc. A while back there was a post on a company that is taking regular cabs and turning them into a modern Targa, personally thats what Porsche should be doing. Dont get me wrong I think Porsche's So Called Targa's look fantastic its just not a targa and shouldn't be called such!

I agree that they aren't real Targas. But c'mon... we're arguing about something with antifreeze, remember.

water air oil whatever, they call it a 911 Targa and in doing so it SHOULD have a removable roof panel.
Even though its watercooled its still the same formula engine in rear = yep Flat Six = Yep 2x2 Seating = Yep Trunk in the front = yep Targa - Removable roof section = NOPE Just a large sliding glass roof. Still not a targa! ![]() |
