'84 Cabriolet Parcel shelf re-install question.

Guys, the rear parcel shelf has come loose and there doesn't seem to be any obvious means to re-attach it. for now I simply slide it back into place, but that usually lasts up until I hit the brakes hard; then the shelf just slides forward again. Does anybody know how this thing re-attaches?

Scott--
Can't speak specifically for a cab, but for the coupe and targa there is a metal tongue that slips into a slot on the firewall, approximately in the middle of rear seat area (centered between the seats both side/side and top/bottom.

Also, there are screws (2 or 4 - can't remember exactly) that hold the parcel shelf to the firewall

Steve, thanks for the info. I decided to investigate further and found that big tin clip you were talking about, along with the bracket it slides into on the firewall. I put two and two together and figured out what it was all about. I also found two brackets on either side of the firewall near the sidewalls and just above the seat level. They have screw receptacles in them and I noted the corresponding holes in the parcel shelf. I ended up getting the whole thing back together, except the screws (so far). My guess is that I just need a couple of big black trim washers to back up the screw heads so they don't pull through.

While I was in there...

I decided to remove the useless seat backs (which in the cab are even more useless than in the coupe because they lean slightly forward to allow the top room to slip between the parcel shelf and the seatbacks) and the seatblets. I vacuumed it all up and I must say it looks great! Why didn't I do that sooner?!

Thanks again, Steve.
