Saw some great older Porsches at Road Atlanta

I was at the NASA-SE Hotlanta Challenge this weekend at Road Atlanta. I drove my car (there and back, 4 hrs ea/way - and it was awesome!) and had a blast showing it off to my friends there! Many of them saw the video and got a big kick out of seeing us in person. I worked pit & grid and they had me park my car in one of the closed gates with the pace cars, right where everybody could see it as they passed. Sorry this is so blurry, but you can see my car peeking out behind the cars on the grid -

Here is one of my two favorite cars of the weekend - this one's a 1966!

But of course, this one was my favorite, for several reasons: 911 (1981), white, and "GIRLPOWERED"

The young woman driving the above car kindly consented to a very, very brief interview. Wish I could have chatted with her longer, but I was directing traffic onto the grid and off of the track at the same time. I had to get back to work!

At the beginning of the video, she pulls off track and her instructor hops out and heads for his own car - you can barely see it, but it's a Porsche, later model. I didn't get her on video out on track, but I watched her out on track during her events, and she was really flying down the front straightaway - which can be a wild ride at Road Atlanta from what I hear, with a downhill turn-in and an uphill exit with a blind crest.

Here's the video clip:

The drive home brought a first - first time out in the rain! It handled like a dream.

I did get to drive parade laps Sat & Sun, and I will post video from that if any of it is any good. I know in one sequence I was holding the camera in my right hand and used that hand to shift while still holding the camera then went back to shooting, then switched camera hands and had it in my wheel hand - a passenger would have come in handy! Must move "camera mount" up on the to-do list!

I need to get "in the loop" on these things! I just checked the peachstate website over the weekend and saw that! Oh well, can't go back to ATL next weekend. I'll have to do a better job of seeing what's going on - there seems to be plenty! Thanks for the heads-up!
