where does this ground wire attach?

Found this a while ago but haven't connected it since the car seems fine except for some erratic behaviour of the oil level gauge and suspect this is the problem. I assume this is a ground wire (brown wires attached to the loose ring terminal in the picture), where's the correct place to attach it?

If it is near the tailight harness, it should be attached to the rear bumper mount that bolts into the unibody.

On my 86 it attaches using one bolt of the U clamp around the rear bumper shock tube.

It is hard to tell but it looks like you're missing the "U" clamp for the outer end of the bumper shock.

And that's where it would attach, IIRC.

thanks guys, I realize I can connect it anywhere it will fit but want to do it right. If anyone has picture of what the missing peice looks like, I'd appreciate it. I'll probably just connect it where I can.

After giving this some thoght, I'm wondering if my car is missing the U clamp, I don't see anything there and after having a look at a parts diagram, it appears that there's supposed to be a rubber mount with a U clamp. My car has always had a funny clunk coming from the rear when you hit just the right bump and I'm wondering if there's a link to this missing part. The car was completely repainted by the previous ownder and I suspect they forgot to put this peice back.

Pelican doesn't seem to list the clamp as an available item, anyone know where to find one?
