subaru engine into 911!!!

May seem like sacrilege but could you fit a flat 4 Subaru Impreza engine to a '73 911? Would you be able to use the 6 speed Subaru gearbox? I hope this could work as the engine would probably be slightly lighter weight, more reliable, easier tuned and much cheaper than a 911 engine. Also the shorter length of the engine should mean better weight distribution. Opinions.

Subaru tranny would have 6 reverse gears, and 1 forward, and from what I've heard you can't flip the diff or whatever. Get a tranny adapter from Kennedy engineering to mate the subaru motor to porsche tranny. Then you need radiator/hoses..etc....etc...

Given enough time and money almost anything is possible. However, I have a feeling that getting the Subaru transmission to work would be extremely difficult (facing the wrong way + coming out of an AWD car). Another challenge, albeit a workable one, will be locating the radiators.
