Turn Signal Switch problem 83 911sc

My high beams are stuck on...I can get to low beam by holding the lever half in. I can see that a small plastic yellow tab (with a square hole in it) has come out of the switch. It slid down the black plastic cover witch clamps around the steering column covering both the turn and wiper switch. So.... I tried to take off the cover - two obvious screws on left and right side - but something else is attaching it! Any help here on removing this ? I am guessing that if I recover the yellow tab that I can figure out where it goes in the switch ...am I nuts? Help.

You have to remove the steering wheel to take off the collar that surrounds the turn signal switch.

Yep, switch is probably bad. Sometimes the contacts can be bent back into shape, but you'll have to pull the wheel and look at it to be sure. I had to buy a new switch for mine.

Welcome.

This is a common problem with a releatively inexpensive fix (new switch).

Take a look here turn signal switch quick fix pictures

(pay atention to anything posted from some JW workshop )

See if this link works to the part. http://www.pelicanparts.com/cgi-bin/ksearch/PEL_search.cgi?command=show_part_page&please_wait=N&make=POR&model=911M&section=SUSstr&page=5&bookmark=24&part_number=911-613-305-01-M78

The search feature works well also.

Search for removing the steering wheel.
