SSI's & Bursch on an 84?
Can I mate my existing Bursch exhaust (w/ cat bypass) to a pair of SSI's? I particularly like the Bursch scavenging sound.

The stock Carrera exhaust your using the bypass on is a one inlet into the muffler setup. The SSIs backdate your exhaust into a two inlet. I suppose it maybe possible to have your muffler modified for a second inlet.

The short answer is you need a 2 in muffler. On top of that, the Carrera's (and SC's I think) will need to have oil lines that back date the oil system. If you look at the SSI's in the Pelican Parts site, you will see they show the 2 lines you need. The existing Carrera oil lines interfere with the right side headers (including the backdate SSI system).

Thanks so far!
Does it make sense to use pre-74 SSI's then? I think I read somewhere that adds HP. Also Fabspeed muffler sounds deep & throaty or am I mistaken. Any other cheaper muffler suggestions? Man this is getting expensive...

The SSI's are pretty much exactly the same as the 74 and earlier exhaust except that they are stainless steel. I would suggest you check out the M&K mufflers available through Pelican.
