Power Window fuse size

Well, trying to sort out a short in my 76, replaced both switches on the driver side, drivers window still only works intermittently, sometimes have to bang on the door, then all 3 switches went out. Did a search ( great wiring diagrams) and made sure all was correct, it was.
Found a frayed wire that may have caused it, checked the fuse and it was blown.
My question is, I pulled a white bullet fuse out of that spot, 16, which I think is only 8 amps and it looks like power windows should be 25 amps according to my book.
Is it possible that white fuse was 25 amps?
I hate electrical problems, makes me crazy.
Thanks
Rich

That's what I figured, just don't understand how the windows worked and the fuse didn't blow with an 8amp when it should have 25

If everything is running smoothly, a smaller fuse won't automatically blow. Problems arise in the reverse, when you put a 25a fuse in an 8a circuit and something causes the circuit to malfunction. Poof...melted wires and/or fire.

They most likely used a 25 amp so you could operate both motors at the same time. If you are chasing an intermittent problem look at the ground connections, especially on the drivers side. If you are having problems with blown fuses look for shorted wires were they enter the doors.

Ron,
All 3 switches were out, I now have the pass side working from both sides but not the drivers window.
I'm not getting power to the green terminal, I have power to the single top terminal and the 2 below, black and green on mine should be power to the motor correct, getting power to the black
This is frustrating
