Dye for oil to find leak?
I was wondering if there are some safe products/ways to dye your oil to find a leak?

Any decent auto parts store should have a kit which include dyes for different fluids (trans, oil, water) special goggles and a UV light. I think I paid about $29 for a kit that included an A/C dye as well.

I have used them, and I found they don't help. The dye gets splashed around with the oil and you end up looking at a scene from csi with lumenol, dots everywhere, and concentrations on the seams of everything.

If it is "gushing" you will see it without $10 dye. Just like a fat girl, roll her in powder and aim for the wet spot!

That has not been my experience. The dye is bright green at the source of the leak and a dull green elsewhere. The area should be very clean before the test.
