Need air compressor for space saver spare

Anybody have a favorite brand 12 volt air compressor for carrying onboard to air up the space saver spare in case I need to use it?

Thanks, Roger

Roger,
That emergency spare tire and wheel weigh just under thirty five pounds (noticeable when removed) Most all Euro cars don't come with spares anymore. Good ole Walmart sells several small air compressor units (it's not really worth spending a lot of money on this part that you're likely to never use). I carry a couple of truck sized fix-a-flat can most of the time. For road trips I bolt the inflatable spare onboard for some added security on the highway. I stuff the compressor in with my Bilstein Jack, start wrench and lift pad. With the spare out I put my jack kit and tools wrap on the floor behind the passenger's seat.

Roger, click on his name to the left of his post.

I don't carry the spare anymore either. I don't like fix-a-flat stuff, so I carry plugs for emergency and have an inexpensive 12v that I carry as well.

Any 12v cigarette lighter-powered compressor will do. Look for something that comes in a compact case that will withstand years of being jostled around in the trunk. Oh, and BTW, it takes about 10-15 mins to inflate the spare, so watch the temp on the compressor head. Most don't like to be run more than 10 mins without a break. As the temp goes up it become more likely that you might blow the fuse for the lighter plug.

Better? Who knows...? Less expensive? Definitely.

For my money, why spend major dollars on something that's gonna sit in the trunk for years, unused. The CH compressor will do the job just fine.

Excuse the ignorance but what is a start wrench?

TIA

Dunno about you guys, but I'm at about 50% with flats that can be repaired. The other times the sidewall was destroyed. The last time was in my Uncle's S2000, I literally felt something strange, slowly pulled over, and the inside sidewall was destroyed.

If you're not going to carry a spare, better have AAA or similar service.

Take should read "Star" wrench (for removing lugs more easily)... just a typo Both Haggerty and Grundy have excellent road assistance program policies. The fix-a-flat or inflator are for minor issues.
