1975 911s targa VIN# locations?
I recently bought a 1975 911s targa, it was a recovered stolen vehicle and someone got rid of all the VIN #'s where ever I look. Door jam, A pillar, front trunk. Is there anywhere else I can find the original VIN #? It has the original motor I believe. Is it possible to use the motor #'s to get the VIN?

No,
The motor number will not relate directly to the chassis number. There is probably a production number stamped on the lower dash sheet metal, underneath the lower padded dash trim (you have to remove the trim to see it) to the right of the ash tray. This number will also be written with a grease pencil on the inside of the doors, towards the top, under the door panels. If you were to write Porsche a letter explaining your situation, perhaps they could cross refeference the numbers. Good luck, JR |

I checked behind the dash panel and found a number stamped. Its' not long enough to be a VIN but maybe it could tell me something. 115 1692

That's the production number. It has no relationship to the serial number but I'd bet Porsche AG could correlate the two numbers. I'd write them a letter, including some photos and see if they are willing to look up the serial number for you.

Is there any other spots where the VIN could be that the thieves might have missed?
