Replacing old KYB's with Bilstein shocks, ?

I just bought a pair of Bilstein shocks from Pelican. However, my gas adjusable KYB's are about 3 inches shorter than the new Bilsteins. Does anyone know if this will affect the height of my 1971 911T? Is this the correct Bilstein shock for my car?

Thanks

I think one of the first things you need to identify is what type of strut you have. With that difference in height of the shock, you might not even be able to secure the shock into the strut.

KYBs should never be on a Porsche....if the part number is correct they should fit. I would suspect that the KYBs are just beat to crap and are sagging.....

Front or back? Post pics....and part numbers...

I'm sorry I didn't clarify, they were rear shock absorbers not front struts.

The correct rear shock will have a lower mount for a 12mm bolt, later shocks use a 14mm bolt. Measure the hole, if a 12mm bolt fits, but the hole is too small for a 14mm, you're good to go.

I double checked the numbers. Looks they are right for both kyb and bilstein. I guess my kyb shock is beat up. I'm just worried that the bilsteins might set the car 3 inches higher. lol

LOL! KYBs are junk when they're new, that one has zero life left, so much so that it can't even extend itself.

KYB's are crappo, I can't wait to get my Bilsteins on. Thanks for your help guys.
