I installed a new wire harness so every time I have a issue I think thats the problem. For instance my alt has the internal regulator but the car was original with a external. So it makes me wonder....

Yep, very hard to believe. If the other tests GOOD then I will feel like fool b/c then it would indicate that the belt was too loose.

I think that it is great to have a new harness. Those things get pretty brittle after many years of heat cycling.

Regarding the change to the internal regulator ... wasn't that a pretty common thing to do? Have others experienced problems after the switch?

It is official. I am an idiot.

The old alternator tested GOOD too.

I can now conclude that belt was slipping and not turning the fan / alternator. It is really amazing how one shim can make such a drastic difference.

I feel like it is incredibly tight right now. Much tighter than I have ever had it in 4 years of ownership. What a waste of time.
