Leather clean problem

Car is a 79SC with cork interior. No cracks or splits in the dash. However, the PO glued something to the center of the leather dash, when he removed it, left a glue (?) residue which I can't get off. Went to a person who does leather repair and touchup for various dealerships, his suggestion was live with it. Anybody got any noninvasive ideas to remove the residue? thanks Lynn

Goo gone? Butane? Not to sure how they will react with leather so do test on an inconspicuous area first.
