Motronic dme, and moisture.

I store my buddies 3.2, over the winter for him. I had to move it over into another garage that I had for a month and a half, and this garage does get a little moist. some water on the floor after a hard rain,etc.. There was some condensation in the passenger compartment when we pulled it out last spring. The car would barelyl run at all. Even in neutral , the car would barely see 2krpm at full throttle, backfiring sputtering etc.... Any how both of us got real busy, so just parked the car up in the nice dry garage, It has now sat for about 3-4 months, I pulled it out on wed to start trouble shooting the problem, and SOB, the car runs flawlesly again. I have been flogging it for the last 3 days now, and it hasnt skipped a beat. Any of you seen motronic units act up from moisture???. This definiately had nothing to do with wet plug wires/ cap, it wasnt a misfire, it seemed as if it was more of a fuel metering problem. I am going to drive it for a couple more days, change the oil, fuel filters etc, and send him on down the road. Thanks

I had a tough to find motronic issue on a 3.2 engine, it later turned out that the DME board had gotten wet/damp.

Your issue sounds lot worse. I wouldn't think it could happen just from being damp. But who knows. I guess the point is, drive the car more?

Garage
You could always remove the DME and have a look inside,...clean her up if moisture onced lived there.....could have (easily) been moisture buildup....and that would also include the ignition side,....all now gone.

Hope all works out...

Best,

Doyle
