Alternative place to install one's amplifier
At some point I decided to install an amp so I could occasionally listen to music while the engine was running. I bought the smallest one I could quickly get my hands on:
http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219252051.jpg It's an Alpine MRP-T222. I've misplaced the manual somewhere so I'll post the dimensions of its predecessor, the T220, which should be the same. w x h x d: 206mm x 60mm x 242mm, 8-1/8" x 2-3/8" x 9-1/2" As hard as I tried I could not manage to stick it under the passenger seat which seems to be the position of choice. I guess it's bigger than what the rest of you have put under there. I then went about looking for another place to put it. I did not want it in the trunk nor in the smuggler box. So I found a cozy place for it here: http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219252571.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219252661.jpg http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219252735.jpg I fashioned a piece of wood and fastened it to the back of the foot rest so that it would not wobble under the pressure of the passenger's feet. I also added some tape with foam on the amp itself so that it will not get a beating from the foot rest. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1219253163.jpg The carpet fits nicely over the whole thing and you cannot tell that there's something there at all. Oh, and it works, I can now listen to music at cruising speed! :D |
I have seen them mounted under the floor borad where you put yours, the concern is always going to be heat and water.
many have them under the passenger seat and others in the smugglers box or trunk |
my car came with an old broken alpine amp that was located in that same spot. i located my sirius receiver and interface in that spot now. its a good spot for such things

No chance on a patent there then... :)

You may to engineer something that would ensure water is deflected somehow away from the amp....that is: should you have a windshield leak appear.....
...no patent chance here. Best, Doyle |
