Jinglling noise from rear right wheel I think

Hi Folks,

I have recently noticed a "Jingling" noise as I'm driving along as low speeds (under 40Km/hr). It sounds like 2 metal keys jingling on a key ring. I have searched all over the car but can’t find anything loose. I think its coming from the rear right (driver's side) wheel. I suspect that it is coming from the unsprung portion because it is even present when the road is relatively smooth. ....... I can’t find anything loose though. I would not describe the sound as "rubbing" or "clicking". Any thoughts on what might be the culprit??

Thanks!

You don't say what kind of wheels but the older center caps with the prongs used on fuchs can be loose and cause a similar jiggling sound.....

Make sure it's not your chain tensioners making that sound.

I was going to say centre caps as well. 2 of mine make that same noise and had me worried that it was tensioners.

had the same noise. It ended up being the upper cover of the shock(bilstein) jingling against the shock body. There were telltale wear marks on the shock body. I wondered for the life of me how a tire could rub on that portion of the shock. Of course it couldnt have.... it was the cover(the piston cover) banging on it. Strategically placed sticky foam tape remedied the problemo.

mine did that - it was the parking brake. the shoes had disintegrated and there were small chunks floating around. The spring that holds the shoe was scraping against the drum. And, slightly pulling the e-brake while rolling would change the sound.

Have you seen your cat lately? Neighbor missing theirs?

I eventually found the noise. Luckily, it wasn't the neighbour's cat! It was the Porsche badges on the centre cap of my front wheels. Thanks for the advise.
