Asphault build up removal, any idea's?

I just found a build up of asphault just in front of my left rear wheel, left there by the po, any recommendations on getting it out of there, it's about a 3"x6" blob about an inch thick, it is really adheered. I don't want it to become a rust issue further down the road. I have been cutting away at it with a dremel tool, progress is slow at best. Wondering if tar remover or similar product (gas maybe) might aid the job but i don't want to harm the paint if it was to get on that. I should have checked earlier as the road the PO lived on was fresh pavement down one end, he said he never travelled that way, SURE he didn't. It is all located inside the rocker area.

Direct an incandescent lamp near and toward the tar. Monitor the heat and wait until the whole blob gets soft. You can get left over residue with naphtha, gas, or remover.

+1 on the heat.

WD40 will eat up tar and asphalt and should not damage paint. Do not let it drip on your asphalt driveway.

Diesel fuel and Gunk foaming engine degreaser (white & orange can) also work very well.

Uh, don't use gas... try kerosene. K?
