85 axle boot on a 1984 axle
 
It looks like the difference between a 1984 boot and a 1985 boot is that in 84 the boot was attached inside the flange and on the 85 the boot was moved to the outside. Can a 1985-89 boot be used on the 84 by just putting it on the outside of the flange or is there another difference.
