help ID early air cleaner

all;
i'm trying to figure out if this piece is the correct one for my early MFI system. i understand there should be individual nozzles / spritzers at each throat for fuel enrichment. any help appreciated.
best
jerry

That is a portion of the air filter housing.

You should post a picture of the fuel injectors by the base of each throttle body housing. They perform the spritzing action in MFI engines.

That is what my 1970S had. I have one from a 1971 in the rafters that looks like that also. Make sure to carry a fire extinguisher. If it pops back in the intake on a cold start it can make some impressive flames. The cold start valve in the fuel filter console should activate for up to 3 seconds squirting fuel into the tops of the intakes. I used to have problems if the engine had not cooled enough to activate it. I finally put a push button in series with it to enable me to "choke" the engine (only while it is cranking) in those instances.
I think 1972 on had individual nozzles in the throttle bodies.

Sherwood, there are little hole in the copper tubing that squirt fuel into the tops of the throttle bodies. The new, 1972, on MFI used individual cold start nozzles lower down in the plastic trhottle bodies.

Posolutely! Took Porsche a few years to figure it out, but those copper tubes with little holes caused more than a few engine fires. Carbed engines has these tubes in the housing as well...my '70T suffered a fire because of them.

hey guys... thanks for the feedback & my apologies for the vague reference "...early MFI". the system in question is '70-'71 E type. is it safe to say that the single squirter style as pictured above is a match ?
thanks again!
best
jerry
