testing wiring harness

Is there a simply way to test the engine wiring harness? I have mine out ('88 3.2) for the rebuild and don't want to spend nearly $900(!) just to replace it if it works fine. I have been careful to avoid bending it but I'd like to know if it's working properly before I put it back in. FWIW, it apparently was working fine when I removed it. I did a search and it appears these can be rembuilt, so to speak...is this a DIY project? I'm fine with mechanicals but electronics are a bit of a mystery. Would I just test continuity or should I check resistance? That's probably the extent of my abilities, electrically speaking.
TIA

When you test a harness, it's mainly continuity you check. If you use a typical multimeter, you'll see the resistance anyway. A physical inspection of the harness and connectors (looking for damaged insulation/wrapping, corrosion, bent pins, etc.) is also useful. Get a meter and read the instruction book. It's pretty basic.
