IROC Bumper Seal
Does anyone make a longer bumper seal to fill the space after removing the bellows when converting to an IROC bumper? My car has 2 pieces fitted in to fill the voids, but I'd like a cleaner solution. I'm considering splicing 2 longer pieces with contact cement, but wanted to see if is a better way.
Thanks, |
Check out the 965 (964 Turbo) seal. Some guys use that and like it.

Paul,
Thanks for the suggestion. Sounds like it's just what I need. |
I have the 964 seal and decided that it just didn't look good on an early car w/ an IROC bumper. I really like the look of no seal/smile better than any of the alternatives I've seen.

We'll, shame on me. I forgot to mention that I'm talking about the rear bumper.
Paul, don't know if your thought regarding a 965 seal still applies or not? Thanks, |
When I had the IROC rear bumper, I spliced 'extensions' onto my bumper seal.....I used a razor blade to cut a sharp, smooth edge on the end of each piece and then bonded them together with superglue.
It has held up for 14 years. |
Ah, that would be a no on the 965 smile.
For the rear I just used a 5/8" D seal (it looks like a D rotated 90 degrees to the right) in the large gap under the rear reflector and lights. I got it at a restoration shop that specializes in American iron for about $1.50 a foot. On the sides that mate up w/ the body panels, I left the seal out to match the front. http://forums.pelicanparts.com/uploa...1220214380.jpg |
Excellent suggestion! I'll give it a shot.....
Thanks, |
