Is it difficult to adjust a Seine Shifter?

I have been having problems with my Seine shifter since I've had my transmission rebuilt. For example 3rd and 4th gear do not line up perfectly in the neutral position--in theory the spring mechanism should hold the shifter in the 3rd to 4th plane-- and I can't even get it into 5th gear. Is this a difficult job? or best left to my mechanic?

Is there a specific process to adjusting it?

Thanks for the help.

Are you sure your problem isn't with the coupler adjustment? When I installed my seine, if the coupler (in my case a stomski unit) was not properly adjusted, none of the gear planes lined up.

I don't have my instructions in front of me but as I recall it's not difficult to adjust. Try sending Seine an email.

That sounds like an issue with the shift coupler not the shifter.

Yeah, I agree - it will most likely be the shift coupler you need to adjust, which is under the little removable plate between the rear seats. I don't think it's difficult - it's outlined how to do it on step 4 on this tech article:

http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarticles/911_shifting_improvements/911_shifting_improvements.htm

I think it might be described in "101" too, which will probably have pictures.

I have a Seine gateshift on my car, and from what I remember when I fitted it it didn't affect the adjustment of the gear shift at all. The only thing you might need to do with Seine system is bend those tabs with some pliers a little if they aren't in the right place to hold the gear lever as intended. Definately adjust the shift coupler first though, then see if these tabs need bending (they probably wont).

Good luck with it.
