911 SC catalytic convertor?? or what

I just removed what I thought was a catalytic convertor on a 1978 911 SC RoW engine. When I peered in, it was hollow. Is this supposed to be like this or did someone just core it out? The part number is 930 111 183 00. It also has 911/4-1 and Gillet on it.

Thanks

That is a "euro pre-muffler." No cats on RoW cars (for the most part - I'm sure someone can quote you some exceptions).

Cats were not available on ROW cars during the SC era. They came later, midway through Carrera production. I'd put it back on, if I were you.
