SWB Hazard Switch

I'm making slow progress with my electrical issues on the '66 and need some help. The PO tried to rewire the signal and hazard lights to the later setup used in 69 - 73 cars. It didn't work so now I've been trying to reverse this mess back to original.

The original relays and switches are installed as in the pic below. It took some time to find underneath all the electrical tape but the original harness was still in place. At this point I have the turn signals (L+R) working properly except for the little lights in the tach.

The problem I have is with the hazard switch. The switch is a later model pull switch with 7(?) spade terminals . Can I use this switch or do I have to find one of the early ones? If I can use this switch which of the terminals do I need?

Martijn,

Let me just take a moment to reflect on what a handsome, well-mannered guy must have constructed that diagram, elegant, poetic in its simplicity.

Now, the SWB hazard SWITCH is simply a SPST with a pilot lamp. The changeover is done by the relay. In the later cars, a lot of the "logic" is done in the switch, hence the seven terminals (!)

Can you not find an SWB flasher switch? They are not that hard to find. More original and a hell of a lot simpler than using terminals 49 and 15 on the later switch as a SPST.

Might I add moderately narcissistic? In any case this person has been a great help during this electrical ordeal.

Of course these switches are NLA so I'll start looking for "used".

What is the correct position for the hazard switch? In the center of the console with the foglight switch and heater switch or left of the ignition like the LWB cars?

I may have an extra foglight switch, are they the same other than the knob?

Martijn, we New Yorkers would be diagnosed with Narcissistic Personality Disorder in 48 states

It's in the center, here you can see it.

The electrical connections are similar, I don't know if the rating of the switch is different, but I would compare them to see. I don't have mine handy or I could tell you for sure.
