Are Aew Fuch copys any good??
Hey, thanks to anyone who can contribute. I have my first 911. It's a '74 Targa. I'm looking forward to replacing the Cookie Cutters with Fuchs.
I've watched a few sets sell for $800 to $1500 on E-bay. I've watched these forums too. Well, I've stumbled upon a set of Aew Fuchs which are the size, etc. of what I was looking for. I'd like to run the 15x6" and just swap over my other tires. Thanks in advance! And thanks to Pelican for the Forum! Christopher |

The stock cookie cutters are much stronger, better wheels than fuchs replicas (except perhaps the rotas). I would recommend sticking with the cookie cutters until you find a good deal on a set of real fuchs.

Genuine Fuchs are stronger/lighter/better/more expensive. Replicas are usable if you are just driving the streets. I've seen a few replicas that looked good enough that most folks except a P-car fanatic won't know that they are not the real deal.
Having said that, I would hold out for the real deal. If you do buy replicas, save your original wheels in case you ever decide to sell the car.

15 x 6 real Fuchs shouldn't cost you an arm and a leg. Keep looking but beware of cracked wheels and bent wheels. I'd estimate a good set at a grand. You can get them refinished perfectly at a few shops (here in SoCal it's Al Reed) for under 300. That's still better than 1500 and you've got what would appear to be new, but the real deal.
Wanna go 17's? Check out threads called rota fox. Good 15" tires are getting scarce. |

16" will be another option
Try looking for a nice set of 16x6 and 16x7's.
A nice used set should be around 800 to 1000. At that price, it should be around the same price as replicas at 200 per wheel. |

AEW are American Eagle Wheels, I see them go for $250 a set at swap meets. I think they were $99 ea new. They make alot of the VW wheels, they're still around.

I am selling my Fuchs soon. I got some original 1984 BBS's off of a 944 in 16's to replace them. Keep an eye out in the F/S.
