For a Long Nose, you have several choises:

Replace your twin batteries with a single Optima on its side. You will need to fabricate a hold down and fool with your leads. Not hard if you have any mechanical competence. I used a flat braided ground lead and placed the negative (ground) end inside the battery box. I bought my red top at Costco and I think it is a Model 75/25 or a 34/78;

A pair of Miata Batteries; or

A pair of Sonnenschein DF75 (A512 /40 A) gel cells - www.batterysales.com (exact fit as well).

I put 2 Deka batteries in mine. If you have any questions, let me know.

Interstate still supplies the 911U battery, some of the distributors chose not to carry them. You can try a different distributor.

FYI the Garner NC Interstate warehouse had the U911 batteries for $103.95 as of 6/16/2009. I had to call Interstate, get a person, and they connected me to the local warehouse...

I just put a new Interstate in my '72. They're still around and work just fine.
