high torque starter fitment question
This is not a debate on the different brands of starters but a fitment question. I'm posting here due to high traffic hits
I have a 1975 914 that I am installing a 1978 SC 3.0 engine in. The transmission is a sideshift 901 and I'm useing Kennedy Engineering clutch disc, pressure plate and starter ring gear. So I now want to order a high torque starter but not sure what to order? Anyone have this combo or knowledge of this combo in regards to what starter will fit?

I have the IMI-101 on my 3.0, but none of the other stuff. Just my SWAG, but, in theory, if your high torque starter fits a 914 it should fit right. Kennedy probably sized the ring gear to mate with the stock 914 starter (can't imagine they would do otherwise!) so as long as your starter mates with the side shift tranny in a normal config I dont think you will have trouble.
