AH! I just took a look at some of the pics that you posted and the penny just dropped. That's my brother in law Chris's old car. I'm reasonably familiar with it! He bought it from Whitianga, where I had seen it driven around occasionally when I wason business trips there.
Glad to see you're planning on doing a longhood conversion again. Chris bought it initially because I put him on to the fact that 72's are the creme de la creme (apologies to all other early years of course ![]() That car of yours has some nice original bits on it- plus some nasty 'updates' of course, and some rust. Check out the original sports seats and do a search here as to their value. I tried to snatch them for my car but to no avail.... It's quite a rare original colour too. Can't remember the name (royal blue?) but there's not many of them around. Good luck on the rebuild. I'd dip it and prime as you plan if it were my car. There are a couple of good keen early car guys around my area (Eden/Sandringham) who have good contacts and probably parts and advice (Neven and CamB on this site) Cheers, Matt

Looking at media blasting and go from there . i have tracked down 3 of the past owners in germany and hope to get some info from them soon so i'll update chris as we go. The car was highly opitioned out of the factory and i have a data for the car from porsche ag , it was a intresting build so is worth while doing a full resto . the first colour and the one it will go back to was albert blue . refer photo
