Repair vs Replacement options for this part?

PN 930.110.328.05 Pipeline. Replacement cost is $138. Will be sending my carerra fuel lines to Amazon Hose to be rebuild. Is this a part that they can rebuild vs replace? The rubber portion of this line is cracked. Part #24 here:

Common problem. It is just a vacuum line. I got some of that self sealing rubber tape and just wrapped it around the cracked rubber. Going on 5 years and it is still working just fine.

Just what I wanted to hear. Not familiar with the tape. Source/brand/link?

Thanks!

I just noticed a few days ago that I have the same problem. Thanks for asking the question, and for the answers!

Mark,

I picked up several rolls of this stuff at the Atlanta Boat Show. They were demonstrating how well it worked. I can give you as much as you need to fix the job. Drop me an email.

By the way, the 911 is still in the garage on blocks and one day soon I will get to those fittings on the AC hose!!

wonder if the light grey plastic part is cracked underneath.. I guess you could see if that can be ordered... or make a metal version of the light gray plastic part. Of course you also need the tube with short hose part... but as mentioned above a good taping job will work.. that's my not really needed 0.02

It's really amazing stuff. The owner of this company is a sailing enthusiast and sponsored my neighbor in a race to Bermuda. Fortunately I got several free rolls

Is this the same stuff? Found this searching ebay.....looks like Ace carries a private label version at $6.95 roll.

Specs:

1" x 16'
100 PSI maximum pressure
Emergency repair tape
For water carrying plastic & rubber pipe
0-212 deg. F range
Fuses with no chemical adhesive

EDIT: Specs not the same....ER Tape is rated 300 PSI and 200 degrees (C) 398(F) and can't tell from the pkg if it is silicon.

a couple inches of shrink tubing and a heat gun works well and looks almost factory.

Definitely not the same stuff. I highly recommend the ER Tape. I had heard it would be sold at Home Depot but I cannot verify that.

I just contacted ER Tape and they sell it by the case, minimum quantity--$108 for 24 rolls, 12 black and 12 red. It sounds useful enough that I'm going to buy a case. I'll ask them if Home Depot carries it, but they didn't say anything about that as an option.

So if anybody wants a box or more--two rolls to a box, I'll sell 'em at cost plus shipping--lemme know. Not via here, not via those damn "private messages" but an e-mail to me at stephwilkinson@verizon.net. First come, first served.

Ouch. Certainly well worth the per box price but that's a big qty. I checked and I'm down to two rolls so I'll likely take you up on your offer Steve.

I've also dropped my acquaintance a line to see if he is still in touch with these folks and maybe I can get a better deal somehow if anyone is interested.

Wayne should sell it...

Hose repair

Cut off the crimp with a dremel cut off wheel, replace the hose and recrimp using an oil line metal crimp. Your local NAPA dealer should have a crimping tool. Cost should be a dollar or so for the hose and about $2 for the crimp. They might not even charge to do the crimping.

Repaired using the self-fusing silicon tape from Ace Hardware. Great stuff!

I buzzed that metal shell off with a dremel and found a rubber fitting at Auto Zone that fit perfectly between the gray plastic end and the newly exposed copper end. I think the part was maybe 4 or 5 bucks.

Update: Was noodling around the engine bay today and noticed that my silicon tape repair looked funny (odd shape). Touched the tape and it is all gooey. Apparently the cheaper Ace Hardware version of E-Tape does not hold up to high temps of the engine bay. I will have to redo the repair. I had an unstable/ intermittent high idle condition last week for a couple of days that has self corrected itself - wonder if it was related to a vacuum leak here??? I may try John Walker's recommendation of heat shrink tubing.
