Rusty R&P
hello guys,
I have remove the diff from a 930 gearbox. This box was many many years in storage and some teeths of the ring are very lightly rusted. What is recommended to do with this  Also when we replace diff bearings with races what adjustments need to be done ? Thank you, SmileWavySmileWavySmileWavy Jim |

Anyone guys ??? |
Provided the gears have light surface rust, I'd run them as-is. I would change the fluid every 100 miles for 300 miiles.
What do you have to loose? Someone else will need to provide input on the bearings. |
you can use wd-40 and some light scotch brite and it will come right off or you can blast it with plastic media without damaging it or just sell the whole setup really cheap to me:D

Thanks for the info guys.
Sadly here (Athens, Greece) plastic media blasting is not available !!! Is dry ice blasting also efficient and safe to use ? Thanks, Jim |
The surface rust will disappear about 15 minutes into running them. I'd do a good oil flush right after breaking them in (100 miles).
Ring and pinion gears will sometimes rust in the box when they get shipped to you, it's nothing to worry about. |
