Need help with CIS Injection System

Hi Guys, just bought a donor car for the 3.0 motor and trans from this website. The car is a 79 SC. I just want to run the motor to check the tranny out before I pull engine & trans to start engine build. The wiring has been butchered severely and the fuel tank was already out so I have hot-wired the fuel pump to run constant and using a remote fuel can to flush the system. Symptom: Motor will start immediatly but dies quick. sounds like it runs out of fuel as soon as it spools up. What are some of the first things to check? There is not an air filter on the car yet (will be in Wednesday) and I am trying to start it with the breather lid off

I've got an AutoX to go to this morning but will be back later tonight, thanks for your help in advance!!:)

If you search you will find a lot of info on CIS starting issues. You are describing a very common one whereby the engine seems to start on the CSV but then dies from lack of fuel. This is often the result of a too high cold cp, which is caused by an out of spec WUR, or sometimes an AAR not functioning correctly to keep revs up during warmup. If you check fuel pressures w/ a gauge you can find out what the WUR is doing.

In the meantime you can try holding the sensor plate up and see if that @ least keeps the engine running long enough to flush the system.
