Oh great, one of my oil lines is crushed :(.
The outside oil line on the right side of the car leading to the oil cooler in the fender, has been crushed (I think by the PO's mechanic)
.Do you guys suggest getting the Elephant Racing finned lines? Can I just replace with braided lines instead of hard ones? Thanks, John

There was a thread recently where a guy plugged one end and pumped up the line with 100psi or so of compressed air. He then heated the crushed area with a torch. The air pressure pushed it back into shape. There is a thread here with pictures somewhere.

Post a pic. I have a crushed line and I don't see any problems - even on the track. I have read most of the debates and the fixes and one day I will try to fix mine, but for now, I just make sure to keep an eye out for any changes in temps.

My car gets pretty hot. The dent is right before the bend from the straight portion upwards into the wheel well. It sucks

Just south of the second white line, the engine gets caught in this high rev cycle. Sometimes the revs bob up and down. I think it has something to do with a vacuum leak.

So right under the 9 o'clock position? If this is during daily driving, then it's seems a little too hot.

Yup, daily driving. The front oil cooler seems to have a bunch of rocks and dirt in it also, plus it has oil/road grime built up around the fittings. Looks like I need to replace (or fix) that line and maybe even change the cooler out.

Clean the cooler and don't get rid of it! It's special to the '84.

I noticed that it wasn't a newer fin cooler or an older trombone one. Didn't know that it was an '84 thing. Thanks for the help, John

First half '85 or so, have them as well.
BTW, I read your other thread on the oil, leak. It may be because of sitting for a period. I fixed all my leaks last summer, then recently, noticed that I would get a few drops after driving for a few hours, after the car had been sitting for a week. if I drive the car for a few days, it disappears again. I wouldn't worry about it either. Dave

Good news! When I purchased the car it was losing about a quart every 500 miles, or so. On my first oil change since owning the car, I found that the drain plug was torqued down so much I had to use a hydraulic jack to get it off. The thing was also missing a washer. This small oil leak is nothing compared to that.

Option
Check out this thread where I had the same problem. There are pictures and a few different options for you. I also included the part numbers for the factory lines.
Replace oil pipe to trombone?? I ended up purchasing my line from the dealer which was less expensive than the Elephant Racing line and no shipping. Best of luck, Bryan |

Try pulling the line and heating it with MAPP gas and then tapping it with a metal working hammer. Sometimes they will pop back into shape.
