Leak developed after clutch cable install?

I recently replaced my worn out clutch cable, 2 day's ago, it took me lomger than average, the left rear was jacked up quite high for about 3 hours, after the completion and test drive, all worked out well, except i have developed a leak in the forward transmission area, right below the ground strap area, I think it may be tranny fluid, any ideas on why this would happen, perhaps lifting the car on the driver rear coner for a few hours would have the fluid reach an area in drip out? The first 2 days was about a half dollar size, today after a run I see it dripping a little again. PUZZLED! Thanks, will it stop?

you probably disturbed the large boot at the nosecone and already leaked gear oil drooled out of it. probably needs a shift rod seal.

Thanks for the tips, i did not physically touch anything in that area. but i no how these thing go, nocscone boot and shift rod seal, thanks, could raising the left side quite high for a hours have brought the tranny fluid to a level (tilted) that it would reach a point of leaking out of something, and what i'm now seeing is redidual fluid dripping off the case? I'm not sure it's tranny fluid but i think so, up till the other day it never leaked a drop, is it ok to drive? Planning a 2 hour drive tommorrow. Thanks again

depending on how high you lifted the back end, it is possible that you made some fluid come out of the vent on the top of the trans. Clean up the area and watch it for a few days. If you want to verify it is trans fluid, touch it and smell it, gear oil is rather smelly. Swepco is blue, but you might have other trans fluid as well.

For the 83, you should be able to replace the seal from outside of the trans, but you have to split it from the engine to get to the input shaft. You'll need to drop the engine. I think our host here sells everything you need.

thank you, it is an '83 sc 3.o cab, what you mentioned about the vent possiblly spilling some out is along my same thoughts, unfortunatly not swepco (blue), tranny fluid was replaced this summer, as mentioned the left side was lifted quite high for several hours, thanks for your input, it just seemd like such a coincidence that, it has never leaked before, then shows up right after doing the clutch cable, i was elated to replace the cable and floorboard, adjust the clutch, eliminate my chatter issue, just to find this next issue in front of me. Thanks again
