narrow base booster seat?
Standard sized booster seat isn't even close to fitting in my GTS Nurburgring seat
![]() does anyone know of a very narrow based booster? i'd really like to take my 4yr old on more rides and the '70 doesn't have rear belts (not real wild about him being in the back anyways).

I put a harness in the back of the 76 so my 4yr old can come out with me but I still dont feel super happy about the position of teh haness. I also have a baby seat behind the drivers seat for the 2yr old.
If you find a narrow booster let me know as I would like one for the back Michael |

I am not sure why we need booster seats in the back with only lap belts. I thought that the booster seat was only needed the three point seats because the belt would hit the child in the face or neck.

I need the booster so he can see out the window. I also have a 3 point belt
I do a few long trips with him and it helps him not say " are we there yet" when he can see Michael |

i don't care for the back seat in my car . just don't see why it would be safer.

I found the rear seats perfect for my kiddy! I spent a lot of time and money trying to get something that felt safer, but couldn't...

Graco makes a booster seat that will fit well within the postage stamp seat. You will need to do two things: 1) Replace the seat belt components with some strong metal brackets to attach the clip belt that comes with the seat (you will be able to use the original mounting bolts; I modified two door strike/latch plates that were made of very thick brass--available choice, not a requirement). 2) Get a relatively short cargo strap with ratchet to tie the back of the booster to the stock seat back. This assumes that the seat back locking bolt in your car is in good condition. If so, the latching mechanism is strong enough to handle any stress that may be placed on it in an emergency.
Do these two things and that booster seat WILL NOT MOVE! I tried just using the lap belt for my 2 year old daughter (pre-1987 = no shoulder belt) and I would not recommend that at all for smaller children. Period. The lap belt alone provides no safety or security--it was not designed for a small child. On larger children, maybe. I tried on a few runs and could not keep my daughter from either sliding under the belt or flopping forward under braking. The booster seat installation is strong, secure and provides a 5-point harness. So, for under $100.00 you can get a brand new seat, brand new cargo strap and some thick plates (no more than 1/8") to modify for both the stock seat belt bolts and for latching the securing strap that will come with the seat. I have spent lots more $$ on other things for the car, but this is the best $$$ I have spent by far! With piece of mind and comfort, I can enjoy rides with my daughter and dear bride. And, on a track or autoX day, that seat ain't going anywhere. Plus, its kinda cool in a geeky daddy sort of way.
